Hanover Park Officer Radule Bojovic: ICE Arrest, Visa Overstay Claims, and Return to Duty

Hanover Park Officer Radule Bojovic was detained by ICE for an alleged visa overstay, released on bond, and later reinstated. Here’s what we know about the case:

Radule “Rudy” Bojovic, a Hanover Park police officer originally from Montenegro, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on October 15, 2025. Federal officials accused him of overstaying a B-2 tourist visa that had expired in March 2015, a claim that placed him at the center of a major enforcement action known as Operation Midway Blitz — a regional crackdown targeting undocumented immigrants throughout the Chicago area.

ICE and the Department of Homeland Security allege that Bojovic remained in the United States illegally for more than a decade. After two weeks in federal custody, he was released on bond on October 31, 2025, while his immigration case continues through the court system.

In early December 2025, the Hanover Park Police Department reinstated Bojovic to full duty. Village officials stated that when he was hired in January 2025, he provided a valid federal work-authorization card issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and passed background checks conducted by the FBI and the Illinois State Police. The department also cited a January 5, 2024 memo from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which they say confirmed he was legally permitted to carry a firearm at the time of his employment.

Despite the ongoing federal case, Hanover Park officials maintain they followed all legal requirements in the hiring and reinstatement process.
